Hed Kandi World Series, Southport Weekender 6, Stereo Sushi 11

Hed Kandi World Series Mixes (2003)

Yes we all know where the majority of Hed Kandi releases are at the moment..Barring the Back To Love series, which cannot fail, the majority of other albums are poor, watered down commercial drivel from what I've heard..Correct me if I'm wrong! Anyway this album here, well the Beach House Mix Disc on this album, is an absolute MUST for your collection. This to me is not only one of the finest house mixes put together but certainly Hed Kandi's finest hour.

This is delightful soulful house music and needs to be checked out. There are another 2 mixes on this but I never got around to listening to them. If you want to know what this sounds like-think lying by a pool on a sunny day...

Minnie Riperton Les Fleurs Anthology

Just spotted this from the late great Minnie Riperton. She is my favourite feamle vocalist of all time, I would have to say. Instead of going down the tried and tested route of slating this for 'not keeping it real' and being a compilation album, I will say that this is a good introduction to Minnie's work. In fact it is a VERY good album. One should bear in mind that when purchasing a compilation such as this you are also paying for the remastering and normalising etc..of all these tracks, that is worth the money alone! This is a true legend. What's Minnie Riperton got to do with good house music? I feel these things are all linked...

1. I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun
2. Reasons
3. Every Time He Comes Around
4. Young Willing And Able
5. Inside My Love
6. Memory Lane
7. Love Hurts
8. Here We Go
9. You Take My Breath Away
10. Strange Affair
11. Take A Little Trip
12. I'm A Woman
13. Lovin' You
14. Les Fleurs
15. Light My Fire
